Brothers: Kopa and Chaka

Ok so I decided I did like this design enough to make it my Chaka’s official design. I’m thinking I might still lighten him up a bit. Him and his sister, Shani are pale in color because their descendant, Mohatu’s mate, Abena (my OC [link]) is practically a white lion. Those genes have surfaced in those two cubs. Kopa, the oldest, takes after his father but his colors show a slight hint of his mother’s tawny pelt.

I have Chaka playing two roles in my head right now. I have Chaka being Simba’s younger brother (littermate). That Chaka is basically Simba with his mother’s colors and a bit more of Mufasa’s facial structure. This Chaka takes after Mufasa as well, but shows signs of his mother with his gloveless paws and teal eyes. He will inherit his father’s rust colored mane. The freckles he has are a shared trait between him, his uncle Mheetu, and his grandfather (Mheetu and Nala’s father).

Chaka here, is one of Simba and Nala’s cubs. Depending on what story I put him in, he may be the only cub or only son, or simply be Kopa’s younger brother and it just be the two of them. In general, I have Kopa, Shani, and Chaka being the first three born, and then Kiara, and then finally, Aisha (though the two can be littermates depending on my story… I have many different versions). Chaka is very laid back. He would rather be lying out in the sun than searching for adventure. He is very lovable, always seen cuddling with somebody. He attaches himself to his grandmothers more than anyone, and can usually be seen with them during the day instead of looking for adventure with his sister, or learning about kingly duties like his brother.

I am still playing around with all the cut cubs from TLK universe. I know there is Kopa, from the comics, Chaka, who was to be Shani/Aisha’s brother, but he was cut and the sister was replaced with Kiara. I’ve heard about a Naba but I can’t find anything more than heresay on him, and I believe there is a Tanabi that is popular but he is a fan creation… right?

::EDIT:: haha after I look at these two, I can see my improvements between the time I drew Kopa and the Time (yesterday) I drew Chaka. Daaaaaaaang. Expressions and poses are my weakness. Once I get that down, I'll start up on my comic. I've already got the story worked out up until about the time Mohatu becomes King, so lets see how this all goes.
