Hidden in the Dreams

Although we haven't had the chance to see it, the cubs have not simply forgotten what transpired in their lives. They are haunted by memories and for Mohatu... his imagination. He can only see Sauda drenched in the blood of his family and other unsuspecting lions. These images torment them, replaying in their minds all the time. They have only found slight peace of mind within each other.

I didn't want it to seem like the events of their pasts just happened and that was the end of that. For most, they must grow from the experience. The only one who wasn't affected by the Pride killers in some way was Shahidi. His brother was assulted by a cobra while Shahidi has wandered off. Their mother tried to protect her wounded cub but the venom overtook him and he was gone soon. Even with his lifeless body, she defended the body, taking damage herself, until the snake was no more. Of course, she would perish from the venom as well (even though realistically, it's pretty unlikely for a full grown lion to be taken down by it). Soon after, Abena and Milana, recently removed from their home, crossed the young cub's path. Shahidi's orphaned state was due to natural causes, the other three were not.
